Sega Genesis Portable Takes Sonic On The Road

pa1130982.jpg

This AtGames Mega Drive Portable allows you to take 20 pre-loaded Sega Genesis games on the road. Featuring a backlit LCD color screen (which supposedly is pretty decent for its small size), the Mega Drive can be played on your TV as well, through a RCA hookup.

The Mega Drive features Genesis favorites such as Sonic and Knuckles, Ristar, Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, Golden Axe, Ecco the Dolphin, Altered Beast, and more, all in the comfort of a portable device. Supposedly the audio needs a little work, but gameplay seems to hold up pretty well. Best of all, its only $39.90. — Andrew Dobrow

World Of Wolfcraft? WolfQuest Lets You Live A Dog’s Life

wolfquest.jpg

There have been some interesting attempts in the past to replicate RPG’s to push a certain idea. WolfQuest, a PC game designed by the good people at Minnesota Zoo, allows you to act out the part of a wolf, roaming Yellowstone Park for meat and other wolf needs. Perhaps a mate?

The first episode, called “Amethyst Mountain” is aimed at grabbing the minds of 10-15 year olds back to nature. “We’re hoping to capture some of those kids back with this game,” says a spokesman from Minnesota Zoo, who claims that many members of the younger generation have stopped interacting with nature because of, well, video games. So, if you can’t beat them, join them? The game is available free from the WolfQuest site. — Andrew Dobrow

Rubik’s Cube Speaker Is Extremely Retro Looking

_rubiks_cube_subwoofer_11.jpg

This 20.75″ squared speaker is not cube shaped just for the hell of it. The Rubik’s Cube Speaker is a very large model of the original geek puzzle toy, but is actually capable, well, very capable of amplifying your music to be almost as loud as the voiced in your head.

Weighing in at a massive 144 lbs., the speaker features a 15″ aluminum cone drive, all boxed in with special MDF “tiles” made to resemble the classic puzzle cube. Next time, they should throw in some illumination for ultra retro dance action. — Andrew Dobrow

Clerks Wii Case Mod: I’m Not Even Supposed To Be Here Today

kevsmith_cs_122.jpg

We’ve seen our share of awesome Wii-themed mods, including the Bloodstained Manhunt 2 Wii Case Mod, and even a mod for the Wii’s peripherals, like the Power Glove Wiimote mod. This case mod was commissioned for Kevin Smith himself, based around the ultra-geeky cult following of the movie Clerks.

Featuring figurines of the four main characters of the movie on one side, and a View Askew (Kevin Smith’s production company) logo on the other, with the Wiimote and Nunchuck branding the words “Silent Bob” and “Kevin Smith”, the Clerks case mod is a cool fanatic made design. In my opinion, the case mod seems to be designed to resemble the short-running animated series that was made for Clerks. (more…)

Zonbu Notebook. We first featured the Zonbu, zero-maintenance computer earlier this year and now they’ve launched a notebook version.
