DIY: Cellphones are the new house keys

cellkey.jpg

Keys, keys, keys. Why do we still use those blasted devil trinkets? I say, lets revolt against the key entry conformity. And here’s how. Home hacker Ashish designed a simple dtmf decoder that can control door locks when it is synced with your cellphone.

To unlock the door, all you need to do is call the phone connected to the lock, type in a special PIN code, and than BAM, the door is open. The project would probably be a lot easier if you have a electronic door lock, but if you don’t, no worries, Ashish used a normal lock for this project. — Andrew Dobrow
