Hitachi develops holographic goodness with 3D stereographic display

Remember that scene in Star Wars where R2-D2 displays a mini-holographic image of Princess Leia, exclaiming her need for a certain Obi-Wan Kenobi? Hitachi is developing a 3D stereographic display that could make a holographic-esque image.

Using mirrors to reflect a projected light, the stereographic vision display relies on the reproduction of a single image multiple times using a set of 12 mirrors to create a 3D image. Hitachi hopes this technology could one day replace traditional projectors.  — Andrew Dobrow
