Sandia Micro Tank Tears It Up at 20 Inches Per Minute

Sandia Micro-Bot

Weighing less than 1 ounce with a mere 1/4 cubic inch in total volume doesn’t stop these micro-bots from tearing up a obstacle-laden desktop. Throw anything at it: loose change, a pice of fuzz - the Sandia can handle it all with it’s tracked drive system.

Developed by Sandia National Labs, these little beauties come equipped with an 8K ROM processor and temperature sensor - standard (miniature camera, microphone, communication system, and a chemical micro-sensor fully-equipped). It can “turn on a dime and park on a nickel” - and with three watch batteries under the hood you can get this sucker up to 20-inches per minute, 21 on the highway. It is the most compact robot ever created - and they are already planning smaller models. Plus, if you put a whole bunch of them together you could accomplish some awesome tasks. — Sean Fallon
