Scientists Build Artificial Robot Brain: Is It Time To Freak Out?

Hal-9000

Scientists in Spain have announced that their work on the EU funded SENSORPAC project has resulted in the world’s first artificial robot cerebellum. The scientists plan on incorporating the mechanical brain into a robot designed by the German Aerospace Centre in two years followed by a complete cognitive system within the next four years.

The scientists hope that by giving robots more “human-like” abilities to interact with objects they will be better suited to assist us in our everyday tasks - like assisting the elderly and disabled. And that begs the question: How long will it be before these robots are beating our elderly and disabled? After that it’s a just a matter of time before they enslave the human race. — Sean Fallon
