Sega Denies Dreamcast Revival

dreamcast.jpg

Following rumors that Sony was working on a re-entry into the gaming console market, Sony has publicly dashed any hopes of a Dreamcast revival, much to the defeat of Cartman and the rest of the South Park cast. Originally launched in November 1998, Dreamcast was pulled from production in 2001, at which point Sega left the console market to focus on software.

Senior Sega US spokesman Charlie Scibetta commented on the rumored comeback with a statement saying Sega “has no plans to get back into the console business” and is “very happy being a platform agnostic company”. The rumor started when Sega changed the Dreamcast trademark to what seems to be random tech terms, such as “floor pads” and “flash memory cards”. In the meantime, we have this awesome Dreamcast guitar DIY project to orgasm over.  — Andrew Dobrow
